JOHN VISSER
John Visser is a landscape artist working full-time from his studio in Toronto, ON. A graduate of the illustration program at Sheridan College, Toronto ON, he worked for many years as a freelance Illustrator and in the graphic design and printing industry. In 2008, he returned to his first love, contemporary paintings of the Canadian landscape, and has continuously exhibited his work at art shows and galleries since. John has developed an individualistic, painterly style which connects viewers instantly to the grandeur of the Canadian north.
John Visser is the recipient of the Trailblazer Award, Ottawa Art Expo (2014), and Best Painter Award, Riverdale Art Walk (2016). His work can be found in private collections across Canada and the US.
"My passion for painting landscapes stems from a simple desire to evoke the sense of serenity and beauty that nature instills in me. Rural and wild places are cherished as they induce a meditative calm, a removal from the distractions of everyday life. What catches my interest is the unfolding drama of light and shadow in combination with the graphic, abstract qualities the landscape can possess."
