ANDREW MCLUHAN
There are so many words to describe Andrew McLuhan. Creator, maker, craftsman, thinker, dreamer, archivist, educator, author, poet, explorer, photographer, husband and father. For a start.
For nine years, Andrew was assistant to his father Dr. Eric McLuhan (1942-2018), travelling the world to foster further understanding of the work of both his father and grandfather Marshall McLuhan. He is Director of The McLuhan Institute located in Prince Edward County. His first major research project was in the cataloging and evaluation of Marshall McLuhan’s working library, now named to UNESCO’s Memory of the World register. The library is now located at the University of Toronto’s Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library.
Andrew McLuhan gives lectures and workshops on subjects related to McLuhan studies. He has addressed audiences at the Münster School of Design, Frankfurt Museum of Communication, La Universidad de la Sabana in Bogotá, New York University, Royal College of Art (London), Carleton University, Queen's University, University of Windsor, Winnipeg School of Communication, University of British Colombia and University of Toronto.
Andrew continues writing, teaching, and consulting about culture and technology from a McLuhan perspective to carry forward the never-ending work of understanding human innovation and its consequences with an eye toward an actual ecology of the media.
